A 27-year-old Bloomington man has turned himself in to police after allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash over the weekend.

Jose D. Rodriguez was allegedly behind the wheel of a van that struck a motorcycle at Main Street and Macarthur Avenue around 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Bloomington Police said. The motorcyclist, Corey R. Cotrell, died from the head injuries he suffered in the crash, authorities said.

Rodriguez allegedly fled the scene on foot. He turned himself in Sunday, police said.

He faces preliminary charges of failure to report an accident causing death (Class 2 felony), disregarding a traffic control device, and not having a driver’s license, police said.

Rodriguez is expected to appear in court later Monday.

Anyone with information about the case should contact Detective Steve Moreland at (309) 434-2359 or McLean County Crime Stoppers at (309) 828-1111.
