With the addition of more than 4,000 administered doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the past day, the Tri-County has surged past the 100,000-shot mark.

Meanwhile, area health officials announced the death of a Peoria County woman in her 90s from Lutheran Hillside Village as the region’s lone pandemic-related fatality over the past three days.

In Thursday’s daily media update, Tri-County health department administrators reported 75 new coronavirus illnesses in the region, increasing the tally since the start of the pandemic to 34,135 while the death toll moved to 554.

Hospitalizations in the Peoria area dipped slightly to 31, including nine patients in intensive care units, while 341 residents are isolating at home.

The Illinois Department of Public Health’s addition of 4,116 new vaccinations in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties brought the total to 102,932 while boosting the region’s rolling daily average over the past week to 2,470. The increase over Wednesday’s numbers included 3,237 second doses, with 29,293 area residents now fully vaccinated – or 8.34% of the population.
