Peoria County has topped 35,000 administered doses of the coronavirus vaccine, as Tri-County health officials report three more deaths linked to COVID-19 and 153 additional infections.

Figures updated Wednesday on the Illinois Department of Public Health’s vaccine administration database show a total of 56,160 doses administered in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties combined, with 7,533 residents fully vaccinated – or 2.14% of the total population.

The Woodford County Health Department announced it is working “as quickly as possible” to vaccinate an estimated 10,000 residents in the 1A and 1B categories with its weekly allotment from the state. The agency said it plans to launch an online scheduling tool in the near future to alleviate high call volume.

Peoria County’s total vaccination figure of 35,092 represented an increase of 7,015 from the previous update; the county’s rolling seven-day average for administered doses is 2,110.

The latest area residents to succumb to the disease are a Peoria County man in his 90s from a long-term care facility, a Peoria County woman in her 70s with underlying health issues, and a Tazewell County woman in her 90s. The region's death toll from the pandemic moved to 522, while the case count increased to 32,268.

Peoria-area hospitals reported 44 patients being treated for COVID with 12 of those in intensive care units, while 1,936 people are isolating at home. Across the state, 2,469 people with coronavirus infections are hospitalized, including 520 in ICUs and 270 on ventilators.

The IDPH added 3,314 COVID cases and 69 deaths to the state’s pandemic total, bringing the number of infections to 1,134,231 with 19,375 lives lost. The preliminary seven-day positivity rate fell to 4.5% as of Tuesday. Vaccine doses administered in Illinois climbed to 1,094,135 with 244,588 residents fully vaccinated.
