For a second straight day, Tri-County health officials on Wednesday reported 10 more COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours.
Seven of the fatalities are from Peoria County, including four women from the Christian Buehler Memorial Home and one woman from Heritage Health.
Additionally, a woman in her 80s from Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton is among three Tazewell County deaths. The region's death toll is now 240, with 28 fatalities recorded in just the past three days.
Health officials reported 373 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the area's total since the start of the pandemic to 16,461.
The four Peoria-area hospitals have 196 coronavirus patients, including 53 in intensive care units. The number of people in home isolation is now 5,088.
Also on Wednesday, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced 155 new deaths related to COVID-19, and 11,378 new cases.
The statewide death toll since the start of the pandemic stands at 11,832, while the case count increased to 685,467.
As of Tuesday night, 6,133 Illinois residents were hospitalized with COVID-19, including 1,208 in ICUs and 679 on ventilators. The state's seven-day positivity is 12.2%.
