Noah Adams talks with 78-year Arthur Rodder of Montevideo, Minn., about the rising water in his town. The Chippewa and Minnesota rivers are expected to crest this Saturday -- reaching levels seen in 1997 when much of the region was flooded. Four years ago, Mr. Rodder lost the gas station he had owned for 52 years. This time he says he and his family are better prepared.

But the young, well educated, well informed elite -- China's future leaders -- know the U.S. letter stopped well short of an apology.

Steve Hirschberg of member station WVXU reports on the state of emergency declared by Cincinnati Mayor Charles Luken today. It's the fourth day of protests and vandalism sparked by the shooting of an unarmed black man by a white police officer last weekend. The mayor has also asked police to enforce an 8:00 p.m. curfew and is considering calling in the Ohio National Guard.

Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan reviews the movie version of Bridget Jones's Diary. The book by Helen Fielding sold five million copies around the world, and Turan says it promises to be quite successful on the big screen as well.

NPR's Cheryl Corley reports on a lawsuit filed by the estate of Margaret Mitchell, author of the epic Gone With the Wind. The estate objects to a novel by Alice Randall, scheduled to be published this June. Randall says the book, titled The Wind Done Gone is a parody of the classic novel, told from the perspective of a young slave girl. Lawyers for the Mitchell estate argue it's an unauthorized sequel.
