'Catastrophic' Dam Failures In Michigan Force Thousands To Evacuate
The National Weather Service calls the event "extremely dangerous" and says it was caused by "catastrophic failures at the Edenville and Sanford dams," roughly 140 miles north of Detroit.
'Flood of evictions' looms in Los Angeles as pandemic tenant protections expire
In Los Angeles County, tenant protections that have kept families housed during the pandemic are set to end Dec. 31. That means more than 30,000 households could face eviction by the end of the year.

Going from coach to official was the right call for Tri-Valley's Jon Nelson
Jon Nelson was a boys basketball coach for many years at Tri-Valley. Now, Nelson is making a change that's pretty rare — becoming a referee. He loves the exercise and sees it as “a great way to stay in the game” once he retires from teaching.
