  • NPR's Barbara Bradley reports on Bush and Gore briefs filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington today. Bush attorneys say the Florida Supreme Court overstepped its authority in extending the deadline for counties to submit their vote totals. Gore attorneys say the US Supreme Court would overstep its authority to set aside the Florida court's interpretation of state law.
  • NPR's Brian Naylor reports on the efforts made by Joe Lieberman today to keep Democratic ranks on Capitol Hill solidly behind Al Gore's effort to contest the election. Yesterday's ruling by a Leon County circuit court judge was seen as devastating for Gore, but Lieberman's message to his fellow Democrats was to stay with the vice president until the Florida Supreme Court hands down its ruling.
  • NPR's Brian Naylor reports from Tallahassee on the latest developments concerning Florida's vote recounts. A circuit court judge has ordered all the ballots from Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties brought to him by 5pm tomorrow, but he hasn't said whether they'll be re-counted. Meanwhile, the Republican tate legislature considers whether it should select electors.
  • NPR's Don Gonyea reports about the many events which have occured today as the Gore and Bush camps battle in court over the Florida Presidential Election count. Early in the day, a Florida Distict judge decieded the Florida Secretary of State could certify the election results without including results from handcounts proceeding in some counties. Late in the day, the Fla. Supreme Court delayed such action.
