Antonio Villaraigosa is set to become the Los Angeles' first Latino mayor since 1872 after a historic coalition of Latinos, blacks and whites buoyed his candidacy. But he says that after the publicity dies down, he will be judged by his ability to tackle problems such as L.A.'s public school system.

American forces are evacuating thousands of U.S. citizens from war-torn Lebanon. But smaller evacuations take place quite often and receive barely a mention in the media — the evacuation of families and non-essential personnel from U.S. embassies in countries that have become dangerous.

Report: Tour de France Winner Failed Drug Test
The outcome of the Tour de France is in question after test results showed that race-winner Floyd Landis tested positive for high levels of testosterone during the event. Landis was suspended by his team following the announcement. Another sample from the race will be tested before any permanent action is taken.
