Rice Makes Iraq Visit Ahead of Elections
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice made an unannounced visit to Iraq Friday in an attempt to ease sectarian tensions before next month's elections. Rice's first stop was the northern, Sunni-dominated city of Mosul. Later, she headed for Baghdad to meet with senior government officials in the capital's Green Zone.

Driverless taxis are coming to the streets of San Francisco

Arman Soldin was with a team of AFP journalists traveling with Ukrainian soldiers near the city of Bakhmut when the group came under fire. He was 32. The rest of the team escaped uninjured.
Daniel Penny is charged with second-degree manslaughter in the death of Jordan Neely
The former U.S. Marine, 24, was videotaped putting Neely in a chokehold on the NYC subway on May 1. He surrendered to police ahead of his arraignment on Friday and was released on $100,000 bail.
Octogenarian Gay-Rights Pioneers Wed in California
In California, two elderly women were one of the first same-sex couples to marry in the state. Their marriage begins a busy week for county registrars around the Golden State. The state's Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage took effect Monday.
