Cambodia Dancers
Frank Stasio reports that in a suburb of Washington, D.C., a group of Cambodian-American teachers is trying to keep alive the tradition of classical Cambodian dance. After the Cambodian genocide of the 1970's, the perpetuation of that art form was threatened, as most of Cambodia's artistic figures were murdered. Now, in the U.S., young Cambodian-Americans are reviving the dance.

NPR's Eric Weiner looks at how the cease-fire between the Israeli's and Hezbollah might now effect the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
Tasmania Shooting
Trent O'Keefe reports from Australia on the massacre of at least 34 people on the island of Tasmania. The gunman began his killing spree at a popular tourist site. He continued shooting at a local pub before taking three hostages to a cottage. Police arrested the man after he set the cottage and himself on fire. Two bodies were found in the rubble. Police have yet to find the third hostage.

NPR senior news analyst Daniel Schorr says that Israel's bombing of Lebanon over the past days has had the effect, in part, of shoring up support for Shimon Peres in the upcoming June election.
Chitra Ragavan Reports From New Delhi On Voting Over The Weekend In
the first phase of India's parliamentary elections. About 60-percent of India's estimated 590-million eligible voters are expected to cast ballots. The next phase begins later this week, and voting is scheduled to be completed on May 7th.
Laser Weapon
President Clinton announced Sunday that the United States would be expanding cooperation with Israeli on missile defense. He said that the U-S would promise to provide more intelligence warnings of enemy launches and to step up development of a new laser weapon to shoot down Katyusha rockets. Robert Siegel talks with John Donnelly, who is a reporter for Defense Weekly and has been covering the laser program. Donnelly explains that the program is still being tested but Israel hopes that it will aid in the destruction of the artillery rockerts used by Hezbollah against targets in Northern Israel.
