"The insect sounds that we hear are just a tiny subset of all the insect sounds out there," he said. "Many of the sounds that are traveling through grasses and trees and shrubs are very melodic and very creative – combining different elements that just sound very unusual. Sometimes very musical, sometimes rather harsh, but often very, very interesting and surprising to our ears."
