Airplane/Helicopter in One
NPR's Tom Gjelten reports on the controversy over the military machine that's an airplane and helicopter in one--the Osprey V 22. It was developed specifically for the Marine Corps, but after two of the aircrafts crashed last year, many are asking the Pentagon to reconsider the Osprey program.

Tomorrow, automaker Daimler Chrysler will reveal to its stockholders how the company hopes to turn around the two year slide it has experienced in the Chrysler division since merging with Daimler Benz. Jerome Vaughn from member station WDET reports.

Bush's Education Policy
This Tuesday, President Bush will present Congress with his fiscal 2002 budget. The president's spending plan includes a proposed 11 percent boost in federal funding for schools, the largest increase in the budget. Mr. Bush also wants to increase local control and institute regular proficiency tests in math and reading. Michael Kirst, Professor of Education at Stanford University, tells Liane, however, that the Federal government has never played a big role in schools.
