Hlavsa Obit
Mejla Hlavsa, founder, composer and bassist for an underground Czech rock band called the Plastic People of the Universe, has died at the age of 49. The Plastic People were at the center of a struggle for human rights under Communism in Czechoslovakia during the 1970's and 80's. Robert remembers Hlavsa's role in that fight.

Crisis Hotline
Lisa Phillips of member station WAMC has a port on one of the first crisis hotlines in the country. It was formed by a group called Family of Woodstock shortly after the original Woodstock music festival in New York. Volunteers are still handling calls, some involving depression, suicide, or domestic violence.

Teaching Evolution
Kansas Public Radio's Peter Hancock reports on the new state board of education that could change the state policy on over teaching evolution. In August 1999, the previous board voted to delete evolution from the state science curriculum. But several moderate candidates won seats on the board last November after promising to reverse that decision.
