Missile Silo Homes
Frank Morris of member station KCUR in Kansas City reports on the effort to remodel old nuclear missile silos into homes. The U.S. government built more than 100 nuclear bases and silos in the early 1960s, but they were quickly decommissioned. Today, some people are finding they make for spacious and interesting housing.

El Salvador Earthquake
Frank Stasio talks with reporter Mike Lanchin from El Salvador, where a massive earthquake has left more than 80 dead and 1200 missing. The quake was centered about 65 miles from the capital, San Salvador. It cut power across the country and closed the international airport, which hampered relief efforts.

Israel has lifted some of the security measures it placed on Palestinian territories, following violent protests that began last fall. That move may have helped prompt high-level talks between Israel and the Palestinians this weekend, but the area remains a point of tension between the two sides. NPR's Sara Chayes reports from Gaza.
