  • Just in time for the holidays comes a backbreaking load for St. Nick — all of trumpeter Miles Davis' Columbia recordings in a single, 70-CD collection. Along with a DVD of a 1967 live performance, there's enough music here to keep a listener busy right into the new year.
  • One of the most recognizable guitar riffs in America belongs to Living Colour. The band's 1988 hit, "Cult of Personality," won the group Grammy Awards and fame. In the past two decades, that fame faded, but Living Colour is back — and members say they've gained wisdom.

The group has been called "Rock's Great French Hope" by Rolling Stone magazine. Thomas Mars and Laurent Brancowitz of Phoenix talk about their music and the album's title, which Brancowitz says his mother apparently didn't like.
  • Infected Mushroom resides at the forefront of an emerging musical genre called psy-trance — complex electronic music with the sophistication of rock or jazz. The group expanded from a voice-and-keyboard duo to a quintet in an effort to make electronic dance music more interesting.
  • Brooks officially retired in 2001 to raise his three daughters. That retirement ends Friday night in Las Vegas, courtesy of a new business deal with Steve Wynn's Encore Hotel. Brooks' extended run is the first of any kind for a country musician in Las Vegas.
  • On Nellie McKay's fourth album, she's still surprising fans — this time with a Doris Day tribute, Normal As Blueberry Pie.
  • In Rainbows, Radiohead's first album since 2005, will appear online Oct. 10, with a specially-boxed CD/LP set to follow in December. The band is working without a label and the album will debut on the Radiohead Web site.
  • A Virginia judge on Wednesday rejected an effort by actress Amber Heard to set aside the $10 million judgment awarded against her in favor of her ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
  • Looking forward to his next album, songwriter Pete Yorn envisioned a series of male-female duets inspired by late-1960s recordings of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot. For Yorn, finding today's Brigitte Bardot was easy; he called actress Scarlett Johansson to see if she would collaborate — and she said yes.
