WGLT earns Regional Murrow Award for digital journalism

Of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.

WGLT has earned a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for its exceptional digital journalism.

The award was announced Tuesday by the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA). Of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.

WGLT earned top Digital honors in the Small Market Radio category for Region 7, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Regional winners automatically advance to the national competition, winners of which will be announced in August.

WGLT's digital efforts include podcasts like Sound Ideas and The Leadoff, stories on WGLT.org including live blogs and data visualization, the Welcome Home series for transplants, and social media.

The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.
