WGLT is excited to announce the launch of a free journalism workshop series open to high school students in partnership with Normal Community High School’s Future Business Leaders of America program (FBLA).

‘Write Now!’ is a three-part series guiding participants through the process of journalistic writing basics with community issues at the forefront, as well as thoughtful discussions regarding media literacy. The end goal for participants will be the creation of a news story, with a chance to be interviewed by WGLT and for publication on WGLT.org.

Akshay Pespunuri, Nysa Anand and Sumitra Paramatmuni are the students leading the series, with help from WGLT development staff and newsroom. The first session takes place Jan. 30 at the Bloomington Public Library in community room two from 6-8 p.m. Following sessions take place Feb. 6 and Feb. 20.

If you or your child are interested, find more information and sign up here.

Jody Holtz is WGLT's assistant program and development director.
