Jesse Jackson

The Illinois House passed a bill requiring high schools to provide an opportunity for eligible students to register to vote. Some Illinois Republicans have concerns about the lack of parental involvement and the influence of partisan politics in schools.

The head of the Bloomington-Normal NAACP said the Rev. Jesse Jackson's legacy lives on in getting young people engaged in the Civil Rights Movement.

Vice President Harris said that when she was in law school in the 1980s, she had a ‘Jesse Jackson for President’ bumper sticker on her car.

Jackson founded Operation PUSH in 1971. The Rainbow Coalition, which grew out of his 1984 presidential campaign, merged with PUSH in 1996.
