McLean County COVID Vaccines Continue To Slow; 43 New Cases Reported

The daily average of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in McLean County is down 38% week-over-week.

The McLean County Health Department is reporting 43 new confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases, as the county’s testing positivity rate ticked up slightly to 4.5%.

Wednesday’s cases were found in a batch of about 1,800 test results returned overnight.

The number of county residents hospitalized with COVID complications held at 30. Hospital bed capacity improved slightly. About one in five intensive care beds are open. Overall, 6% of Bloomington-Normal hospital beds are open. That rate has stayed in the single digits for more than a week.

The active caseload continues to drop to its lowest level since late March. That figure is now 416, with 387 people isolating at home. An additional 52 people completed their time in isolation and are now considered recovered.

The county’s total case count since the start of the pandemic is now 17,747. The death toll remains at 221.

Meanwhile, McLean County’s COVID-19 vaccination progress continues to slow.

Just under 125,000 vaccine doses have been administered, according to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health. That’s an increase of more than 1,200 doses in the past day.

But the average number of daily doses administered is down 38% week-over-week.
