Carle BroMenn Medical Center has been recognized for facilitating service by staff who also are military reservists.
Colleen Kannaday, president of Carle BroMenn, has been recognized for the hospital’s support of soldiers and other employees who are on reserve or called to active duty. The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Award is for employers who show support to those who are on reserve military duty.
Commander Bryan Kemmitz, who presented the award to Kannaday, emphasized the immense difference that a supportive employer can make in the lives of soldiers.
“Our officers and sailors sometimes do not have such great employers, and don’t have such great support. And sometimes (that) creates a lot of undo stress for them when they are down range,” said Kemmitz.
Naval Commander John Wieland, a surgeon at Carle BroMenn, feels grateful for the support of those in the military from Kannaday.
“To have that support from an employer, when and if we have to go away from home and work, is so important,” said Wieland.
Kannaday’s genuine interest in the responsibilities of those in the armed forces also is highly appreciated by soldiers, said Wieland.
