Former Bloomington Police Chief Brendan Heffner Has received nods for U.S. Marshall under both the Trump and Biden administrations.

The U.S. Marshal for central Illinois could continue in that job under the Biden administration.

U.S. Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth have submitted Brendan Heffner's name to President Biden for consideration. Heffner is a former Bloomington police chief, State Police lieutenant colonel, and Normal police officer. He has been U.S. Marshal since 2018.

Duckworth and Durbin have also submitted recommendations for U.S. attorneys for the Central District of Illinois to the White House. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Harris and Christian County State's Attorney Michael Havera are the senators' picks for the top federal prosecutor's job in Central Illinois.

The president will submit his picks to the Senate Judiciary Committee for an initial vote, perhaps followed by the full Senate.
