McLean County Adds 93 COVID Cases; Hospital Stays Up

McLean County health officials have announced 93 new coronavirus cases since Friday and an increase in COVID-related hospitalizations.

The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) said on Monday that 12 McLean County residents are hospitalized with COVID-19. That’s the highest total since May and it's up from 10 on Friday, the last day the county posted COVID data. Carle BroMenn Medical Center and OSF St. Joseph Medical Center said they have 15 COVID patients under their care.

MCHD said 195 McLean County residents are isolating at home — an increase of 40 since Friday.

An additional 51 people have been released from quarantine since Friday.

McLean County’s seven-day testing positivity rate dipped to 3.6%. That’s lower than state and national averages. The county’s cumulative positivity rate since the start of the pandemic is 4.8%, based on more than 391,800 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.

McLean County has reported 241 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began in early 2020.

COVID vaccinations

According to data from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH); 171,280 COVID vaccine doses have been administered in McLean County. The county’s rate of fully vaccinated is 49.1%. That trails the state average of 51.1%.

McLean County continues to be an area of substantial community transition for COVID-19, based on data from the Centers for Disease Control. The county had added 97.7 new coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents over a seven-day period that ended Sunday.

The CDC has called for areas with high or substantial COVID commission to mandate mask use indoors.
