McLean County Sees Dip In COVID Caseload, Hospitalizations

The McLean County Health Department reported 32 coronavirus cases on Thursday.

McLean County's COVID-19 caseload dropped for the first time in over a week, according to data the McLean County Health Department (MCHD) issued on Thursday.

The McLean County Health Department announced 32 new coronavirus cases on Thursday.

The county reported 32 new coronavirus cases. The positive tests came from a batch of about 1,700 tests returned overnight.

The number of McLean County residents in the hospital fell from 21 to 19 overnight. Bloomington-Normal hospitals report they have 31 COVID patients filling beds now.

MCHD said 405 people are isolating at home, while 35 people have been released from quarantine since Wednesday and 19,033 McLean County residents are considered recovered from COVID-19.

The county's seven-day testing positivity rate also decreased, from 4.5% to 4.3%, and the county’s cumulative positivity rate remains 4.8% based on more than 412,800 tests conducted since the start of the pandemic.

McLean County has reported 242 COVID-related deaths since March 2020, including one death in August.

COVID vaccines

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) reports more than 177,400 COVID vaccine doses have been administered in McLean County as the county’s rate of fully vaccinated has inched up to 51.3%. The state vaccination rate is 52.2%.
