Extra money is on its way to Centennial Park in Heyworth.

A grant worth $64,700 is coming from the state’s Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) program. The money will help improve the park and its playground.

Centennial Park is one of 87 total park projects receiving funds from OSLAD. Heyworth is the only town in McLean County getting help. In all, $30.3 million is being distributed across Illinois.

Gov. JB Pritzker called the grant distribution an opportunity to not just “create jobs and boost local economic development”, but to “open the gateway for a healthier, happier Illinois.”
