One man is dead after being involved in a collision with a motorcycle near the intersection of Empire Street and Veterans Parkway in Bloomington Friday night.

The McLean County Coroner's office has identified the man as 37-year-old John Grisham of Bloomington.

Bloomington Police say they were dispatched to that area around 9:30 p.m. for a reported traffic crash. According to a release from BPD, officers saw a motorcycle and a pedestrian had "collided."

Both individuals involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries; the McLean County corner pronounced Grisham dead around 10 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

The intersection remained closed into late Friday night.

According to a news release from McLean County Coroner's Office, Grisham's death was the result of multiple blunt force injuries "reportedly sustained as the pedestrian in the roadway struck by a motorcycle."

A toxicology test is pending.

BPD said in a separate release the "circumstances behind" the incident are still under investigation. No arrests have been made.
