McLean County saw an uptick in new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations this week.

The county remains at medium COVID transmission. The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) on Friday reported two more COVID-related deaths: a woman in her 50s and a man in his 90s. Neither was associated with a long-term care facility.

There have been 410 COVID-related deaths reported in McLean County since the start of the pandemic. Statewide, the COVID death toll has reached 35,550 since March 2020.

MCHD indicated 294 weekly coronavirus cases. The largest share was among people in their 20s. New COVID-related hospitalizations in the county rose to 11.5 per 100,000 residents.

For counties at medium-level transmission, people who are elderly or at-risk of severe complications are advised to wear a mask in indoor public places.

Seventy-four Illinois counties are at medium or high level COVID spread, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

McLean County’s rate of fully vaccinated is 63.9%. The statewide mark is 66%.
