The 29-year-old man shot by police a month ago inside a Bloomington apartment building has now been charged with multiple gun crimes.
Alex Nunn was hospitalized after being shot by police March 30 inside a Turnberry Square apartment building just off Cottage Avenue. Nunn was arrested Friday and charged with seven counts, including aggravated assault of a police officer, unlawful use of a weapon, and reckless discharge of a firearm.
Someone called 911 to report two men outside his apartment, one with a gun, and that he’d heard a gunshot. Nunn had allegedly been kicked out of an apartment after unexpectedly showing a gun, prosecutors said. Police officers who arrived on scene encountered Nunn, who allegedly pointed a handgun at them. After refusing verbal commands to drop his gun, an officer shot Nunn, prosecutors said. Police later found a loaded handgun in the hallway where Nunn was shot.
McLean County State’s Attorney Erika Reynolds previously said her analysis showed officers were justified in shooting Nunn, calling it a “heroic course of conduct.”
Nunn has multiple previous felony convictions, including burglary and theft, prosecutors said.
Nunn is being held on $500,000 bond at the McLean County jail. He’s due back in court for an arraignment on May 19.
