Bloomington Police are reminding the public to be on the lookout for a 24-year-old murder suspect who’s been on the run for two and a half years.

James D. Moon was one of three men charged in the October 2020 shooting on Bloomington’s west side, in the 1600 block of Iowa Street. Jaleel Johnson, a 20-year-old father and concrete laborer, was killed, and two others were seriously injured.

Moon remains at large, and Bloomington Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. Moon is 5-foot-10 and about 140 pounds. He’s charged with five counts of murder, plus mob action, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and obstructing justice.

If you have information on Moon's whereabouts, contact Detective Ty Klein at 309-434-2366 or tklein@cityblm.org. You may also send anonymous tips via your smartphone by texting the number 847411 and the word "BPDTIPS", then a space, followed by your tip information.

The other men charged in Johnson’s death are Kevon Moon of Chicago and Malcolm Johnson of Riverdale. They’re already in custody and face pending murder charges. Kevon Moon was arrested about six months after the shooting, by a U.S. Marshal’s task force in Indiana.
