Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Aug. 12 and 13, 2023, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

One stop song and dance shopping: The long-running Miller Park Cultural Fest features nonstop music and dance from a wide array of local cultural organizations. Where else can you see a gospel choir, salsa dancing, opera, ballet, hip-hop and belly dance in the same place? 12-5 p.m. Saturday in Miller Park; free. culturalfest.org.

Last chance to see Phillip Chen at University Galleries: This is the final weekend for Chicago printmaker Phillip Chen’s solo exhibition, “No Ideas but in Things.” The show shows several landmarks evident in four decades of his career, including realistic — if improbable — hand-drawn illustrations, fine line etchings and a long-running obsession with boats relating partly to his ancestors’ passage over the Pacific more than a century ago. Through 4 p.m. Sunday at University Galleries; free. galleries.illinoisstate.edu.

Toasting the “Wild Man:” Metamora black dirt rockers Joe Stamm Band are joined by Jake Stringer to celebrate their brand-new album, “Wild Man.” If the title track, released in May, is any indication of what the album sounds like, you’re in for a treat. In fact, the Castle’s whole weekend lineup is great. Oklahoma City rock band Hinder with country-meets-AC/DC Nashville alt rockers Goodbye June on Sunday. Doors 7 p.m. Friday at the Castle Theatre; tickets $12.50 at thecastletheatre.com.
