Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Sept. 2 and 3, 2023, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Rockabilly on the green: Union Avenue are Blo-No music scene newcomers with a vintage look and sound. Break out your hair gel and tortoise shell glasses for an all-rockabilly set Friday outside Destihl’s beer hall. The show is part of the brewery’s excellent Soundboard Concert Series, which continues with classic rockers Jack Dupp & The Empty Bottles on Saturday. 6-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday; free. Details at desithl.com.

Vino autentico at Mackinaw: Gazing across Mackinaw Valley Vineyard’s idyllic late summer grounds is made even better with grape guts between your toes. The vineyard’s annual grape stomp includes live music, food trucks and a Lucille Ball look-a-like contest, harkening the red-headed comedienne’s indelible Italian vacation. 12-6 p.m. Saturday; admission is $5. Details at mackinawvalleyvineyard.com.

Workers (and bands and parade floats) unite: In addition to relegating your white pants to the back of the closet and buying a discounted mattress, take in summer’s last gasp with Bloomington’s annual Labor Day parade. You might even catch a glimpse of WGLT’s finest near Illinois State’s Big Red Marching Machine! 10 a.m. Monday; parade route travels from downtown Bloomington to Miller Park.
