Town of Normal staff has negotiated a contract to build a new east side fire station.
The town council will consider the $4.75 million agreement with Core Construction of Peoria when the board meets Tuesday.
The meeting, delayed one day due to the Labor Day holiday, will be held at 7 p.m. at the town council chambers at Uptown Station.
The council will vote on a contract extension and pay increase for city manager Pam Reece.
Fire station
The fire station will be built at Shepard and Hershey roads, pending council approval. The town plans to decommission the station at College Avenue and Blair Drive. The design-build contract, which the town started negotiating in April, calls for completion in 18 months.
The town has been exploring ways to reduce emergency response times to the northeast side of Normal since 2014, when it began the process of relocating its three fire stations.
Reece contract
Reece stands to get a 4% raise under an updated employment agreement the town council will consider. That would elevate Reece's base salary to $217,300.
The contract also extends an additional year to March 2026 and provides a deferred compensation bonus of $2,750. The contract revision follows a performance review. Reece has been Normal’s city manager since 2018.
Sewers
The council will also consider a $1.1 million contract for sanitary sewer lining with Hoerr Construction of Goodfield. Hoerr submitted the lowest of four bids.
The town plans to line 25,000 feet of sewer pipe in 25 locations throughout town, including Ironwood Drive, North Towanda Avenue, West College Avenue, North Main St. (U.S. Route 51), University High School and the Maplewood subdivision.
