3 things to do this weekend: Halloween cinema, new Ewing exhibit and a 10-acre corn maze

A creepy clown walks toward the camera on a dark, tree-lined path. Behind him, a fortune teller with a purple crystal ball sits at a table.

Trick-or-Treat! Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of Oct. 28 and 29, 2023, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Normal Theater in full spooky mode: Beetlejuice, The Addams Family and four showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (with a shadow cast!) play this weekend on the big screen, plus Hocus Pocus and the O.G. 1984 Ghostbusters on Monday and Tuesday. Tickets $7; full schedule and show times at normaltheater.com/Halloween.

A peek in Hazel’s closet: Ewing Manor has a new exhibit showcasing six ensembles from Hazel Buck Ewing’s wardrobe—including her wedding dress. After this Saturday’s kick-off, periodic tours will take place during what is usually the Manor’s off-season. 1 p.m. Saturday; tickets $5 at the door. Details and schedule at 309-438-6333 and ewingmanor.illinoisstate.edu.

Get lost in the corn: Rader Family Farms hosts their final night maze of the year. This 10-acre, BYOF (flashlight) corn maze is advertised as “not scary” and concludes with a bonfire and s’mores—if you can find the end. 6:30 p.m. Saturday (last entrance at 8 p.m.); tickets $10. Details at raderfamilyfarms.com.
