McLean County has its representative on the Tri-County River Valley Development Authority [TRVDA].
Normal City Manager Pam Reece was appointed to the authority by the Normal Town Council Tuesday night. The TRVDA issues taxable and tax-exempt bonds to businesses to construct, develop and acquire properties. Up to $250 million can be issued, according to the agency's website.
It was a unanimous decision by the council to appoint Reece. Council member Karyn Smith noted the three other counties in TRVDA — Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties — also appointed city managers to the board of directors. Smith said Normal and McLean County should follow suit.
Reece has served as the town's city manager since 2018.
In other business, the council approved:
- Using expedited process to OK the final plat for the Gullquist subdivision, a re-subdivision within the Johnson subdivision [108-112 Merle Lane].
- A three-year towing contract extension with Joe’s Towing. The standard formal bidding process was waived.
- A contract to Brotcke Well and Pump for drilling test wells at four Normal locations. There also was a related budget adjustment of $75,000.
- A $435,904 bid from George Gildner, Inc. for the Linden Street water main improvement project.
