The electric automaker Rivian makes its electric trucks, SUVs and delivery vans in Normal.

A federal workplace safety agency is investigating after a person working for a contractor inside the Rivian plant was seriously injured in a fall.

The fall happened April 11 inside the Rivian manufacturing plant in Normal. WGLT was not able to confirm the age or residence of the worker, but the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) confirmed the person was seriously injured.

A spokesperson said OSHA has opened an inspection into the incident with both Rivian and the contractor, which it identified as Multi-Industries.

“The safety of our workers is our top priority. We are aware that a contractor working in our plant was injured in a fall on April 11. We hope the contractor makes a full recovery and have reminded all teams to follow safety protocols at all times,” a Rivian spokesperson told WGLT.
