Normal police have booked a juvenile male for attempted murder in connection with a Thursday afternoon shooting on Shelbourne Drive. An adult man was hit by the gunfire, but does not have life-threatening injuries.

Officers said the juvenile had a gun whose serial number had been defaced, also a crime.

Two other juveniles are in custody and police said more charges are likely.

Police said they located the suspects within 20 minutes of the first report, though police did block off Shelbourne at Linden Street for a time to prevent people from going into the area.

Charges so far for the first juvenile include attempted murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm involving an occupied vehicle and an occupied building, mob action, no valid firearm owner identification[(FOID] card, and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

Police ask anyone with information on any case to contact the department at 309-454-9535.
