In a reveal event Thursday evening, Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) unveiled the lineup for the 2024-2025 season. This year's program features 24 anchor dates with performances spanning various genres, including comedy, magic, family entertainment and music.
The season kicks off Aug. 25 with a performance by Grammy-nominated duo The War & Treaty, known for its blend of modern country, blues and soul. In 2023, husband and wife Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount became the first Black duo nominated for Duo of the Year by both the County Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
The lineup continues with notable acts such as Dr. Scott Bonn’s true crime presentation on Sept. 12, bluegrass from The Cleverlys on Sept. 20, and the country sounds of Riders in the Sky on Sept. 26.
The schedule features several tribute acts, including Who’s Bad, a Michael Jackson Tribute, on Oct. 4, George Michael Reborn on Oct. 5, and Heartache Tonight: Tribute to The Eagles on March 15. Classic rock enthusiasts can look forward to Jethro Tull guitarist Martin Barre on Oct. 18 and Night Ranger on Dec. 5. Additionally, musical theater and comedy will be well-represented with shows like Some Enchanted Evening on Oct. 25, Menopause the Musical 2 on Nov. 13, Spamilton on March 1, 2025, and Brian Regan’s comedy on March 22.
Family-friendly performances include The Magic of Rob Lake on Feb. 18 and Dirty Dancing in Concert on March 7. Dancing with the Celts will highlight traditional music and Irish folk dance on March 20.
The diverse lineup aims to attract a wide range of audiences and support the growth of the local arts scene. The BCPA’s programming is anticipated to contribute positively to Bloomington-Normal’s cultural landscape, providing entertainment options for residents and drawing visitors to the area.
In a statement, City of Bloomington Director of Arts & Entertainment Anthony Nelson said he’s confident the season is the “some of the strongest programming in the venue’s history.”
The BCPA will continue to add one-off performances throughout the year when routing is available—a strategy that paid off in multiple sold-out performances this year. Higher profile artists such as Lee Brice and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band were late additions. And comedy has proven to be exceptionally popular this year, with sold-out shows by Pete Davidson, Bored Teachers, Charlie Berens and Chelcie Lynn.
The 2024-25 season also introduces a revamped season ticket program, offering patrons discounts for purchasing tickets to all 24 shows or in smaller groups of 12 or more.
