The Illinois Attorney General's office said it executed multiple warrants as part of a retail crime task force investigation.

"Investigators from the Illinois Attorney General's organized retail crime task force executed a number of search warrants today as part of an ongoing investigation," said AG Deputy Press Secretary April McLaren.

People were loading items from the Midwest Exhange store onto a U-Haul van behind crime scene tape.

The AG's office declined further comment, including whether there are more business locations affected. McLaren only noted that there were a number of warrants in play.

Monster Pawn also has a location in Springfield.
