There was a disgusting smell in part of Bloomington on Monday.
Police told Unit 5 schools it appeared to be coming from the far side of the woods behind Pepper Ridge Elementary School.
Whatever caused it wasn't on school grounds, but the "barf"-like smell, as one person characterized it, was so bad, the school kept kids inside at recess and sent an advisory email to parents. Unit 5 asked the city to investigate.
Public Works Director Mose Rickey said he sent a staffer out to look into the location, but has not had a report back.
Police told Unit 5 the odor was extremely unpleasant, though it did not appear to be anything dangerous.
