Illinois State University has announced it has two officially licensed beers through Destihl Brewery in Normal.
One of the beers is Redbird Ale, which was the first beer Destihl started making in 2007 just before opening its brewpub in Normal in 2007.
The other is a new beer, Battle Bird Lager that Destihl describes as a “refreshing Munich Helles-Style Lager with a radiant golden hue, delicate malt sweetness with light biscuit attributes.”

The beers will be available at Hancock Stadium and CEFCU Arena for Redbird Athletics events, starting with this weekend's home volleyball game against Murray State on Friday night and the football game against North Dakota State on Saturday.
"This partnership provides our fan base the opportunity to support our student-athletes in a unique way by supporting a great local business,” Illinois State deputy director of athletics Paul Kabbes said in a news release.
The beers also will be sold at Destihl Brewery's Beer Hall and its restaurant and through local retailers, bars and restaurants that want to join in support of ISU and Redbird Athletics, the company said.
"We look forward to making these beers available to Redbird fans and alumni and cannot wait to be part of the game day experience at Illinois State athletic events,” said Destihl founder and CEO Matt Potts.
ISU said royalties from the sale of Redbird Ale and Battle Bird Lager will go back to the university to support a variety of initiatives.
Last week, Illinois Wesleyan University said it had launched a custom beer, IWU Brew, with Destihl.
