A McLean County grand jury has indicted the former water superintendent in Hudson for allegedly filing false water records.

The Illinois attorney general's office pursued the charges against Jeff Waller, 59, of Hudson.

The six-count indictment alleges Waller forged signatures in documents submitted to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency in September 2019.

The documents showed results of the village of Hudson's testing for lead and copper in its water supply.

Waller served as the village’s water superintendent from September 2008 to April 2021. Waller was fired after village officials learned about the allegedly forged documents.

Hudson Mayor Dave Brutlag and the Illinois attorney general’s office both declined to comment on the case, citing the pending litigation.

The grand jury also indicted Waller on two misdemeanor counts of violating the Environmental Protection Act.

Waller is scheduled to make his first appearance in McLean County court on Wednesday.
