Bloomington City Council member Donna Boelen has resigned, Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe confirmed on Monday. He said Boelen cited personal reasons for the decision.
Boelen is the senior council member and mayor pro tem. She had a couple years left on her current term, but was not up for reelection in April.
Mwilambwe said he has 60 days to appoint someone to fill the remainder of Boelen’s term.
Those interested in the Ward 2 position, representing south and southwest Bloomington, can send a letter of interest and a resume to the city, said the mayor.
Boelen was elected in 2019. She often focused on budgetary and financial planning issues during her tenure. She is a retired medical professional.
