Museum executive director Julie Emig said the exhibit works as a timeline of the 100-year history of the company, using pictures and other information to convey the company's relationship with the community.

Country Financial is sponsoring a new exhibit at the McLean County Museum of History to mark a company milestone.

The exhibit commemorates 100 years since the founding of Country Financial by McLean County farmers. It includes details of the company’s history and artifacts from the Illinois Farm Bureau archives.

The exhibit, as well as Country’s sponsoring of "Free Tuesdays" at the museum, will last through the end of the year.

“Country approached us right before they started planning their 100-year celebration and said, ‘We know that you know a lot about history, so why don't we collaborate in commemorating this event?’” said Julie Emig, executive director of the museum.

“And over a series of meetings that went over many months, we came to a really great partnership that included the opening of this pop-up exhibit on our first floor gallery and a variety of opportunities for people in the community to come and access the history that has to do with Country Financial.”

The exhibit opening on Wednesday was attended by leaders and employees of Country Financial, the Illinois Farm Bureau and the museum. Local policymakers also attended, including Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe.

“We're honoring 100 years of keeping promises,” said Brian Duncan, chairman of the board of Country. “And that's really what an insurance company is, and we are one of the highest rated insurers for customer satisfaction when it comes to claims, how we handle our claims.”

Duncan also is president of the Illinois Farm Bureau.
