A Bloomington man died Saturday after a two-vehicle crash at an intersection on the west side of Bloomington.

McLean County Coroner Kathleen Yoder identified the victim as Scott W. Smith, 49. In a news release issued Sunday night, Yoder said Smith died from multiple blunt injuries in the collision.

Bloomington Police say the crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Market Street and Wylie Drive, about a mile west of the Interstate 55/74 interchange.

According to the police department’s public information officer, Bloomington fire and police responded to the scene and began life-saving treatment on Smith.

He was taken to Carle BroMenn Medical Center, and pronounced deceased at 8:46 a.m.. Yoder said toxicology testing is still pending.

The driver of the other vehicle also was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

The incident remains under investigation by the Bloomington Police, the coroner's office, and the McLean County Accident Reconstruction team.
