The annual Bloomington and Normal fireworks show – aka the Sky Concert – returns for another year Friday night.

Fireworks are expected to begin around 9:15 p.m. at both Bloomington’s Miller Park and Normal’s Fairview Park. There are plenty of activities at both parks throughout the day on the Fourth of July.

Miller Park will also host a free, family-friendly Classic Car Cruise from 1-4 p.m. Jim & Tommy, a local acoustic rock band, will perform a live music set throughout the event. Miller Park will be available for picnics, and The Longbranch Again food vendor will be on site for purchases. Other park amenities, like the zoo, splash pad, playground, mini golf, and paddle boats will also be open during the day.

Fairview Park will have family-friendly activities including inflatables, face painting, balloon artists and food vendors beginning at 5:30 p.m. There will also be live music. The nearby Karraker Aquatic Center will host an early bird swim from 9-10:30 a.m., then reopen for a regular day.

Several smaller communities around Bloomington-Normal are also celebrating the Fourth of July. That includes Towanda, where the “Let Freedom Ring” parade steps off at 10 a.m. Friday.
