Fireworks

All around Central Illinois, towns are holding Fourth of July firework shows, festivals and other events to celebrate 250 years of America. That includes a new drone show at the Interstate Center in Bloomington.

Fireworks are expected to begin around 9:15 p.m. Friday at both Bloomington’s Miller Park and Normal’s Fairview Park. There are plenty of activities at both parks throughout the day.

There's rain ahead in the forecast, but weeks of drought increase fire risk for communities preparing their July 4 fireworks displays. WGLT talked to officials from the Town of Normal Parks and Recreation and Fire Departments to get the skinny on how they mitigate risk.
