Colleen Kannaday, the president of Carle BroMenn Medical Center in Normal and Carle Eureka Hospital, has announced plans to retire next year.
Kannaday has served as president of both hospitals for over a decade and has worked in health care for 30 years.
“It’s my greatest honor to serve the patients, team members and communities of Bloomington-Normal and Eureka,” Kannaday said in a statement. “The dedication, compassion and integrity of our teams inspires me every day. As I joyfully look ahead to my retirement, I know our hospitals and Carle Health are ready for what’s next.”
Kannaday led the hospitals through a number of challenges, including the COVID pandemic, increased need for mental health services, and ongoing changes in government health care policy — from the Affordable Care Act to Illinois’ shifting coverage for immigrant care.
“I am so grateful for Colleen’s outstanding leadership and service to the community,” said Matthew Kolb, chief operating officer of Carle Health. “She has helped to expand and improve health care services in Bloomington-Normal and Eureka.”
Hospitals officials have not announced plans for a successor.
