After receiving 4.5 inches of snow this past weekend, the National Weather Service says Bloomington-Normal will receive up to 4 more inches of snow Monday afternoon and evening.
This winter weather advisory will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Tuesday. Areas affected include Bloomington, Normal, Peoria, Eureka, Lincoln, and Clinton. Bloomington-Normal should expect 3 to 4 inches of snow, according to the weather service.
There will be slippery road conditions, especially during the evening commute which may linger into Tuesday morning. Allow travel time for yourself, drive slowly, and increase the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.
McLean County’s Unit 5 announced on Facebook that all after-school activities are cancelled for Monday, as well as any before-school activities on Tuesday, due to the weather. They anticipate resuming regularly scheduled in-person school Tuesday. According to Unit 5, the cancellation does not impact after-school care at any elementary school. Those programs will continue as scheduled.
In Normal, a snow parking ban goes into effect on all streets effective 2:30 p.m. Monday and remains in effect until noon Tuesday. Cars must be moved off the streets to a driveway, garage, or parking lot. Residents who do not have a driveway or garage may park their cars for free in the parking lots of the Town's parks, including but not limited to: Anderson, Fairview and Underwood. A snow parking ban is activated to allow snowplow crews to clear the entire street, including parking areas.
Bloomington has issued a snow route parking ban starting at 5 p.m. and lasting until further notice.
At Eureka College about 30 miles northwest of Bloomington-Normal, the campus will close at 1 p.m. Monday because of the storm.
