The Bloomington-Normal Economic Development Council [EDC] has named an interim chief executive officer. Tyler Cravens will hold the position while the council does a national search for someone to succeed Patrick Hoban.
Hoban resigned after six years in the position to take a job with Ameren.
“We are excited to have Tyler guiding the EDC during this transition period,” said Kristen Barnlund, board chair of the Bloomington-Normal EDC. “His strategic leadership, experience strengthening the Bloomington-Normal business community and time in public service make him an ideal fit to ensure we continue as a leading force for economic growth.”
Cravens has served as chief operating officer of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce for the last three years. Before that he served on the staff of then Congressman Rodney Davis.
“I am honored to serve the EDC during a critical time,” said Tyler Cravens. “Bloomington-Normal has a bright future and the EDC plays an integral part in securing its prosperity. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and staff to ensure a successful transition to new leadership.”
“Tyler has provided great leadership at the Chamber and is uniquely qualified to fill this interim role at the EDC,” said Charlie Moore, president & CEO of the McLean County Chamber of Commerce.
Cravens will continue in a limited capacity with the Chamber through a temporary arrangement.
Moore said the EDC is a partner organization and a vital component of the business community.
“The Chamber is proud to have a team that can step up to provide assistance during their time of transition,” said Moore.
The Chamber and the EDC remain separate, independent organizations.
