The Housing and Resource Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 at Eastland Mall in Bloomington.

The Housing and Resource Fair will be hosted April 29 by Bloomington-Normal organizations focused on expanding access to fair housing and wellness resources.

The Mid-Illinois Realtors Association, City of Bloomington and Town of Normal are jointly hosting the free event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Eastland Mall in Bloomington.

Melanie Walker, president of the Realtors association, said the event is about providing real, tangible access and opportunity.

“Access to safe, stable housing is only one piece of a thriving life. Our organizations are collaborating to remove barriers, empower residents with knowledge of their rights and open doors that might otherwise remain closed,” said Walker.

Through a network of multiple organizations in Bloomington-Normal, the event will offer assistance for renters, home buyers and homeowners, resources for unhoused individuals, down payment assistance, property maintenance assistance and education on fair housing rights.

Substance abuse support and on-site care from the Carle Mobile Health Clinic also will be available.

William Bessler, Bloomington’s community development manager, said combining housing and wellness into one event reflects how the two go hand in hand.

“This partnership allows us to take a more holistic approach,” said Bessler. “We’re not just talking about housing — we’re talking about helping people build healthy, stable lives. That means connecting them to everything from legal resources to health care to daily living support.”

In an effort to foster accessibility and feeling welcome, attendees will be offered a free lunch, children’s activities and free public transportation from Connect Transit.
