Normal Police lined crime scene tape along several homes and apartment buildings in the 700 block of Franklin Avenue as they investigate a shooting in which six people were injured on March 22.

Normal Police said they are still investigating the shooting in which six people were injured last month in a residential area near Illinois State University.

Police say no arrests have been made. The department has not said whether they have identified any suspects, but they confirm no warrants have been issued in the case.

“Detectives continue to investigate any leads that have been submitted and have been evaluating video collected in conjunction with the shooting as well as forensic analysis of digital data,” Assistant Police Chief Shane Hackman said in an email.

Hackman said all six victims have been released from the hospital and have been interviewed by police. Two of the victims were juveniles and all were between ages 17 and 19. Two of the people shot were ISU students and four were from Bloomington-Normal.

The shooting happened during the early morning hours on March 22 in the 700 block of Franklin Avenue, just south of the ISU campus and Uptown Normal.

Police have described the incident as isolated, but have not said what may have led up to the shooting. They estimated a crowd of 30-40 people at the time police arrived and they suspected the crowd was larger before they were called to the scene. Police have not said whether they have recovered a weapon.

Hackman said the department has received a “minimal amount” of evidence in the form of video and statements from the public.

Normal Police said they are still asking for the public’s assistance with information regarding this incident. They are asked to call the department at (309) 454-9535. They can submit tips anonymously on the Normal Police mobile app or by texting NORMALPD to 847411.

Evidence can also be uploaded to the department’s evidence submission portal.
